Hokum Hall (Year-round)

Home of the 1929 Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ, Hokum Hall offers good old fashioned family entertainment year round. Musical performances include jazz, country, and gospel. The Hall also features Vaudeville Variety Shows, silent movies with organ accompaniment and family matinees, complete with popcorn and rootbeer floats.

From quaint craftsman-style homes to impressive mansions, the Southwest Seattle Historical Society’s annual home tour spotlights a mix of neighborhoods and architectural styles.

West Seattle's Farmers' Market
(May-December)

Open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the West Seattle Farmers’ Market offers an array of delectable edibles including fresh produce, eggs, cheese, wine, baked goods, fish, chicken and beef. You can even pick up a bouquet of cut flowers for yourself or someone special.


Summer Film Camp (June-July)

Lights, camera, action! In this three-week summer program, kids have the opportunity to write, shoot, and star in films they make, whether it’s a music video, horror film, or action movie. Run by local filmmakers, the camp teaches kids what it takes to make a movie, including how to write a screenplay, how to use camera equipment, who does what on a film set, and how to edit a movie.

Sidewalk Cinema (June-August)

Friday and Saturday nights, pack a picnic, grab the lawn chairs and head to the post office at California Avenue SW and Genessee Street for a night out at the movies. Movies are projected onto the side of the post office. Doors open at 7 p.m. with movies starting around 9 p.m. Friday nights feature children’s films, while Saturday nights feature classic or PG-rated movies.

Saturday Night Fever in the Junction (July)

Each July, thousands of people take to the streets for the West Seattle Junction Festival. The three-day weekend event attracts more than 30,000 celebrants each year, making it one of the most popular street festivals in the region.

Featuring roving entertainment such as giant puppets and magicians, the Junction Festival is a family-oriented event with strong community ties. Three blocks of the Junction are devoted to attractions that include a merchant’s sale, booths with nearly 200 artisans, a food court, entertainment and a lively beer and wine garden. The festival’s highlight for many people is the Saturday Night Street Dance — from 8 p.m. to midnight where young and old alike dance the night away in West Seattle’s own Saturday Night Fever.

Hi-Yu Festival (July)

Meaning ‘much’, ‘plenty’ and ‘abundance’ in Chinook jargon, the Hi-Yu festival lives up to its name with two weeks of festivities for individuals of all ages and interests. The festival kicks off with the ever popular Seafair Pirates Landing and includes the Sportsmans’ Club’s Kids’ Fishing Derby, Concert in the Park, Junction Merchant’s Sidewalk Sale and Festival, Hiawatha Kid’s Fun Fair, Classic Car and Hot Rod Show, a bowling tournament, Kiddies’ Parade, and American Legion Grand Parade. Festivities are capped off with the crowning of the Miss West Seattle Hi-Yu Pageant.

Alki Art Fair (July)

Purchase fine arts and crafts produced by local artists, or show and sell your own art. Located at the Alki Community Center two blocks south of Alki Beach, the show includes jewelry, pottery, painting, metal work, fountains, candles, food, face painting, kids games and much, much more.

Seattle Music Fest at Alki (August)

Some of the Northwest’s best emerging artists join national and international headliners for this three-day event on Alki Beach. The festival is free and open to all ages.

Gather round the bonfire on Alki Beach to experience the sights and sounds of the passing Christmas Ships.



Spring Camp Alki Beach (Spring break)

Sponsored by the Seattle Parks Department, this spring break day camp for kids ages 5 to 11 features arts and crafts, sports, games, field trips, and swimming.

Summer Day Camp Alki Beach/Teen Camp
(July-August)

These two summer day camps are for kids ages 5 to 11 and teenagers ages 12 to 14. Campers enjoy arts and crafts, take field trips and participate in sports and swimming.

ArtsWest Gala and Benefit (June)

The annual gala and benefit is ArtsWest’s single largest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds benefit ArtsWest’s artistic and educational programming.

West Seattle Garden Tour (July)

Spend the day touring some of West Seattle’s signature residential gardens. Participating gardeners graciously open their gardens for this annual tour that benefits the community.

Musical Theater Adventures Camp
(July-August)

Kids ages 9 to 13 get to release their inner thespians at this seven-week course offered by ArtsWest. The campers take classes from theater professionals, rehearse on stage, make new friends, and in the end, bring to life a musical play. Space is limited.
